Week 22

I made my Google map just fine. Actually it was fun and I got carried away putting in lots of places. It would have been so easy to use up an awful lot of time. The mashups are great but the fancy ones are beyond me. I like going to them more than creating my own. They would be great for the library too. It could be used on the library's website for lots of interesting things-both information and to make it more colorful and appealing. me

Week 21

Wow! There are a lot of great videos there. The possibilities are endless. You can do lots with info but they can also be made fun to watch. I love the idea of a video contest for the library. There are so many talented, creative people here. This is a link to one I liked a lot link. There were tons of great ones. I loved the ones you recommended too. This lesson took way too long because I kept watching more and more.

week 20

Wow! Second Life is really an involved place. Can't believe all the things you can do there! I can see where some people could even have an addiction problem with this. I personally wouldn't get into it but see lots of potential for many people. It could be a good place for the librarians to connect with other librarians. It would also be good to virtually try out new things. I don't see the need for many different libraries there though.

Week 19

It took a little while this time but I'm finally caught up on homework assignments.

Week 18

Podcasts are really great!! There are so many possible uses both privately and for the library. I loved The Onion one so subscribed to that one. I did need to refresh a little from last semester. Haven't looked at my reader account for a while so that took some extra time too. me

Week 17

This one seemed to take a lot of time. Probably just me fumbling around. I have changed my blog for comments and tried to post comments. Always feel uneasy opening things up to everyone. Survey monkey is great and we've already used it at the library. It's a great way to get lots of input. Always need to included printed out copies for people who don't have internet access or computer skills though.

Week 16

I'm not sure what you want from us this week since there's no assignment. I have done the earlier lessons and have now read this one. me

Week 15

This week we worked on Remember the Milk and Jott. I sent 2 messages to Remember the milk and edited one of them. I also checked out rplait's site on Jott. I found these sites confusing. I think these sites would be fine for people who use their electronics all the time. I definitely prefer good old paper and pencil. Probably won't use these sites anymore now that homework is complete. me

Week 14

Tagging and especially Delicious is very interesting. You could very easily spend a lot of time there. I ran out of time so didn't actually set up my own account yet. Do hope to in the future. The question of using tagging on the library catalog is complex. I think many people would love it. I would certainly find it interesting. It would be neat to see other people's comments about different items. I would like it that you have to go in differently to look at the tags. If you're not interested in them you wouldn't see them. I thought it looked like that on the Ann Arbor site. The complex issue would be in trusting people to use appropriate words. I'm afraid many of our "regulars" wouldn't follow along with that and then there would be the problem of policing it or enforcing the use of only appropriate words. I also went back and added tags to my earlier posts.

Week 13

Wow a new semester already! I'm already familiar with using Google Talk to keep in touch with our children who live so far away. Therefore didn't have to set up a new account. I've read all of the information and checked out the sites. I think Meebo looks great for anyone who IMs a lot. The uses for libraries are great too. I didn't sign up for a Meebo account because I just don't do it enough.

Weeks 11 & 12

Well it's finally done. I've done all the final week reading and watching so it's evaluation time. I've enjoyed this learning experience. I'm not a high tech person but not all the way a technophobe either. I thought the lessons were clear and easy enough to follow. I was happy with myself that I knew of most of these new things already and we already had a google account and picasa account. LibraryThing was the totally new one to me. I think I enjoyed the Facebook week the most because I discovered people that I already knew there. Still not always comfortable with just anyone else seeing my things so I've probably not shared as much as others. I think I will use some of these new things but never had enough time to get back to each one when we had to move on to new ones. I don't see the amount of time I spend on the computer changing drastically. I do have to share at home with my husband. There's limited access at work and no time while there. I've done all of this on my own at home. It was also nice to be able to ask questions of my husband and daughter to clarify things too. Do you think the timing of the next semester is good? I'm afraid it will be even harder to keep up with that one being in the pre-Christmas season. Things are always pretty busy in November and December? Thanks aagain for everything. me

Week 10

Library Thing is great! I thought it was a little overwhelming at first but I usually do. I've added my 10 books. My account is under Adadwa. Another neat one to spend time on but never enough of that. All that's left now is to check out the fun sites listed on the catch-up weeks 11 & 12. me

Week 8

I'm finally caught up and ready for Week 10. I got into Facebook and still needed to go back to do the photo sharing. We already have a Picassa account so I uploaded 2 new pictures of our reef tank. I did read the information at Flickr. Everything has been interesting but don't get the time to go back and use these sites as much as I had hoped. Someday there will be time!?! me

Week 9

I got a little behind last week and have been reading and listening to both Week 8 and 9. The Face Book site pulled me in when I found 2 of my daughters and their husband and fiance. I'm now "friends" with all 4 of them. This site can really be addictive! I even saw a page for someone from my high school graduation class. This might not seem unusual for most of you but my graduation class only had 57 people and it was before people had their own home computers.

Week 7

Oops! When I read the email I thought I didn't need to do these and report back to you. Now it looks like others are getting marked off for week 7. I did go to the fun sites you listed and tried out each one. I really think post-its are perfect as is. The high tech version is just over the top. me

Week 6

Wow, this was a short one. I've used Wikipedia before. I've used it to find the order of books in a series. You can try under the author but sometimes even under the series name or main character. It was easy to find the library link under Racine, WI. Lots of other interesting stuff too. It took a little while but finally figured out that the red words don't take you to their article. They must be things they want people to start an article. me

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Hi! I finished all the reading, listening and homework for Week 5. So much to learn all the time! So far so good.

Week 4

Hi! Last week was very busy but I finally completed it's lesson. I think I only have 8 sites subscribed but that's all I really want now. When I have more time it'll be fun to explore more. me

More

I actually managed to get back here and find out how to add another post! This wasn't very hard. I'm so surprised at myself.

Creation!

I have created my blogsite! Couldn't think of very original names but here it is. me
